Firehacks Rules and Guidelines
(not following the rules and guidelines will result in disqualification)
1. Venue & Facility Guidelines
-
Restricted Areas: Attendees must remain only in the designated event spaces, auditoriums, or cafeterias booked for the hackathon. Wandering into other corporate office floors, restricted work areas, or employee-only zones is strictly prohibited.
-
Property Respect: Treat Zoho's facility, furniture, whiteboards, and equipment with care. Any damage to corporate property will be the responsibility of the individual or team involved.
-
Cleanliness: Keep eating and drinking in designated breakout or dining zones. Clean up after yourselves, use recycling and trash bins properly, and do not leave excessive mess at your hacking stations.
2. Code of Conduct & Behavior
-
Inclusive Environment: Harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior of any kind toward fellow participants, mentors, judges, or venue staff will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the premises.
-
Professional Courtesy: Remember that corporate employees may be working nearby or sharing common infrastructure. Keep noise levels in hallways manageable and respect quiet zones.
3. Hacking & Project Rules
-
Original Work: All code, designs, and pitches must be created during the hackathon timeframe. While pre-existing open-source libraries, APIs, and frameworks are allowed, building upon pre-written application code is prohibited to ensure fairness.
-
Sponsor Tools: If utilizing sponsor technologies (such as those provided by your event partners), teams must follow their respective terms of service and usage guidelines.
-
Integrity: Plagiarism or presenting someone else's work as your own will result in immediate disqualification from judging.
4. Safety & Logistics
-
No Overnight Stays (if applicable): For a 12-hour event ending at 9:00 PM, ensure all participants vacate the building promptly by closing time. If staying overnight is ever permitted, strict curfew and chaperoning rules must be enforced.
-
Emergency Exits: Familiarize yourself with the building's emergency exits and assembly points, which will be pointed out during the opening ceremony.
-
Wi-Fi Etiquette: Use the provided guest network responsibly. Do not attempt network penetration testing, DDoS testing, or access unauthorized networks from the corporate environment.
